Welcome to the Function and Form Blog

Here it is, Since we are too lazy to update our site half the time(we are not webmasters, are even web-rookies), we thought this would be a little more interactive and fun. So here we go, with a page where we can have a little fun, show new products, cars we like, cars rocking our suspension, and vent on certain things. Please forgive us in advance for our wreckless behavior and crazyness on this page at times.

"Work it harder, Make it better, Do it faster, Makes us stronger,"....

On my way to the office this morning i was playing the song "Stronger", as i felt a need to pull out a motivational CD, and Kanye West Graduation is like my theme music. As i was listening to the song, i realized that the chorus had the same energy that we have here at Function and Form right now. All that is on our minds and agenda's is to be Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. Another word that sums things up around here is "Hunger". We are hungry as hell!! Not food, but hungry for success, hungry to become a stronger and better company.

So with that said, the time is coming where the new version of the TYPE II is arriving. In the next few weeks it will arrive, and we will be back to serving this hotness to the streets! I personally am anticipating this as much as the Jordan 7/16 countdown pack coming in June (i will do whatever i have to do to get those Jordan 7 Hares, do not get in my way!!), but that's neither here nor there. In the next few days you will see changes to the website in preparation for the new product, so don't be alarmed if you see a temporary page up. We will try to make it easy on the eyes and have a mailing list so you can be in touch of everything we get our hands into (keep minds out the gutter please, thanks!).

Everybody have a wonderful week and feel to call or e-mail about any questions 626-407-0015.

Track Day!!!

VP__8883size

On Saturday, March 29th, we took the liberty to make the 1.5 hour trip up north from Los Angeles to Button Willow racetrack. We were eager to support our long time customer and family of F2, Danny Hernandez, with his beast of an EK at the track. It was a chance to get familiar with the track, get familiar with our product, and get away from the hectic office life.

IMG_6440

Upon arrival I was personally greeted by Danny with huge smiles and excitement. He had already did a session or two and was very pleased with the New Type Two prototypes he was testing. First let me give you a little history. He was one of the first people to have our previous Type Two and has had plenty of experience with our products and company(as a paying customer), so his excitement was a fair gauge of how our product marketed for "street" performance was performing on the track.

IMG_6428

I decided to throw on a helmet and ride along for a few laps around Buttonwillow (configuration #13), and boy was a nervous but impressed. By lap 3 I was humming and day dreaming at speeds up to 110 mph or more. The suspension handled elevation changes, esses, and changes in directions very well. Also hitting those rub strips on the apexes was no problem for the suspension. Remind you this car hasn't even been dialed in. It was pretty much, slap on the suspension, check the height, and lets roll!! Due to a broke Axle (darn K series power!), our day was cut short, but we look forward to getting back to the track to dial in the suspension and play with some configurations that will let us help our customers set up there new Type Two suspensions and help us develop a..........we will save that for another discussion *smiles*

The New Type I & Type II Speaks.........

I know i know i know, you guys have all been waiting for us to open our mouths, and give some information on the new Type II. Over the next few weeks, we will be releasing more info about the product, addressing some questions we get, and making the public more familiar with the changes going on here at Function and Form that we are excited about, and have had a hard time keeping our mouths shut about.

Here is a brief spec of our new coil-overs.

Type I Coil-over

This is the first coil-over that Function and Form developed and distributed. It has since made a return, with improvements to design and functionality. This entry-level coil-over targets the consumer who is looking for height adjustability without the steep asking price.
The Type I coil-over is a full bodied coil-over, not a lesser quality sleeve-over that many competitors offer. It is fully threaded and height adjustable to provide a comfortable ride in any import car. The Type I is a quality, durable, and cost-effective product for the consumer that seeks an innovative entry-level product for their automobile.

Key Features:
-one year warranty
-adjustable ride heights
-adjustable from the lower mount, allowing the driver to retain full shock travel
-dual tube shock design for maximum ride comfort
-steel construction of lower mounts for increased durability

Type II Coil-over

The current Type II coil-over is a modified and retooled version of the older Type II models. The new and improved Type II coil-over is a complete coil-over with a fully threaded shock body. Through extensive research and development, Function & Form Autolife has enhanced an already largely successful product. While the previous design was very popular, the new Type II coil-over has added features that serious car enthusiasts will find to be irreplaceable.

Added Features:
-one year warranty
-32 levels of dampening adjustments
-dampening adjustments made with a knob that “clicks” at each level setting
-steel construction of the lower mounts for maximum strength
-adjustable camber plates (application dependent)
-adjustable pillow ball mounts (application dependent)
-adjustable ride height from bottom mount allowing driver to retain full shock travel while --  lowering the car
-special oil lubrication able to withstand weather conditions from -40° C to 200° C
-dual tube shock design for maximum ride comfort
-wireless dampening adjuster (Wi-damp) available for most applications
-50 mm McPherson strut piston
-43 mm Double wishbone piston
-Shock dyno chart available

Applications
Function & Form Autolife Inc. carries some of the most popular applications for import and domestic compact cars. The warehouse is located on site to allow for faster processing and shipping turnover.

Function & Form Popular Application List:

Honda
Subaru
Mitsubishi
BMW
Audi

The Sponsership Game......(Must Read)

This was taken from the SCION LIFE forums. But it pretty much sums up what most companies are looking for and what we look for or dont look for. A must read, and reality check........

"Ok, so i have seen way too many threads asking, "how do i get sponsored?" or, "sponsor me please". Maybe we need a sticky so that people don't need to ask, and as long as they look before posting (probably not gonna happen anyway) they can get the answer to their question. Now, i'm not the all-knowing on sponsorships, so if you have additional info, let me know and i will add it in. So here goes...

Basically there are multiple types of sponsorships...partial, full, show, race, semi-partial, and new product/new car sponsorships

Since we no longer have a new car, please do not try and just get free parts...it's not gonna happen. Not many companies need our car for R&D anymore because most have one or two tC's for their own R&D. In order to get a sponsorship you need a few things...

1. You need to already have some work done to your car. Companies want to know that they're gonna give you something in exchange for exposure. If you have work done to your car...you're more likely to go to shows and advertise for their product(s). Typically, you're gonna need at least 5k put into your car in aftermarket parts before you're even considered. Most companies want you to have more than 20k in mods before they sponsor you. Please do not waste peoples time by trying to get free stuff for your bone stock ride just because you don't have the money...work for it!!

2. You need to type up a formal proposal and submit it to the company in which you would like to obtain a sponsorship from. It should include a brief description of yourself, what kind of car you have, the mods you have done, how much work you have done yourself, what you do for a living...you gotta sell yourself. Let them also know that you are willing to represent them because that is what you're gonna need to do. You're gonna have to display some stickers/vinyls of their companies' name and you're gonna have to go to "x" amount of shows and take pictures. Make sure that the proposal is professional and not just one large paragrah. Obviously, you own a computer...if you have a word processing program such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Word Processor, etc...it will have a form for you that you can just fill in the blanks. Please remember to use paragraphs, indent, all the stuff your high school english teacher told you when you're supposed to write a paper.

3. You should submit your proposal at the beginning of the year. Most companies want fresh cars for the new show season and it could start with yours. The further into the year you get, the harder it is to get the sponsorship. Full sponsorships usually entail that you will get the part(s) for free, and it is up to you to have it installed. You will be required to take pictures of the install for their benefit.

Full sponsorships are the hardest to get and the hardest to keep. You will have to go to shows and not just "meets". Your car must be in tip top shape and be show ready when it comes time for the show. You will also probably have to be at a minimum of 3 shows. You need to become a part of the car show world because basically...you're gettin paid for it.

Partial and semi-partial sponsorships entail that you will get a large discount on the part(s) and it is up to you to have it installed. You again will have to take pictures of the install and also attend 3 or more shows/meets. This is much easier because all you have to do is go to meets, which happen all the time and are free to enter, and display the companies' stickers/vinyls at all times.

Show and Race sponsorships basically speak for themselves...you will be a strictly car show kinda guy/girl or actually racing and using these parts from the companies. All of the above requirements from the full sponsorships apply.

Remember this, you will represent these companies at all times and if you show any form of misconduct while advertising for them (the stickers/vinyls), they can pull your sponsorship and charge you for the parts in full.

And whatever you do...DO NOT PAY FOR SPONSORSHIPS!!! Certain companies that will remain nameless by me...tell you to pay a fee first before you can be sponsored...this is BS!!! They might give you a discount on some parts...but most websites and companies do also if you give it the time. It is not a true sponsorship and very rarely do they help get anybody any kind of sponsorship! It's a scam to get your money and that's it!
